So, you’ve bitten the bullet and finally signed up for a regular home cleaning service. Congratulations! We are sure you’re looking forward to having your weekends free and your home sparkling clean. But before you pop the bubbles let’s look at a few things you can do to get the most out of your cleaning service.

Get Prepped

You’re all signed up and you’re eagerly awaiting your first service, but do you know what your cleaner will be doing or what you’d like them to do? Once your cleaner has been assigned, they will give you a call to discuss which cleaning tasks are on your priority list.

On this call they will go over what cleaning supplies and equipment you want them to use and where they can find them in your home, along with logistics such as getting access to your home. Going through all this with your cleaner and being available during that first clean ensures that the cleaner can customise your cleaning service to your unique requirements.

Communication

The best cleaner client relationships are those built on communication and mutual respect. Having multiple communication channels open with your cleaner will improve your relationship. Stay in touch with them via phone, text or email. You can leave them a note on your service day to provide a little extra information on your home or your preferences.

Be Present

We highly recommend being present during the very first cleaning service, this gives you a chance to meet each other and discuss which products and equipment you want used as well as your cleaning priority list. Remember, your cleaner works for you and it’s important to give instructions to ensure they can provide you with the best possible service.

Provide Feedback

Once you’ve received a couple of cleaning services, you’ll know which tasks you want adjusted, or additional tasks you want to add in. It’s vital to provide praise and feedback for your cleaner. If your cleaner has done a great job – tell them! And if there’s room for improvement provide some specific feedback so they can get it exactly right for you.

Holidays

One of the benefits of going through Absolute Domestics is the customisable nature of your service, even down to your schedule. You can skip a clean at no cost if you have upcoming holidays or you know you’ll be travelling for work.  Wherever possible providing ample notice in advance to either your cleaner or the Agency means we have time to look for additional work for your cleaner while you are away. This allows them to keep to the income they have budgeted for until you return.

Instead of skipping your cleaning service while you’re on holiday, we recommend utilising these services to get your cleaner onto the tasks you never find time for. They can organise the linen cupboard, clean the oven or fridge or sort out the pantry.

A regular 2-3hr clean only really provides adequate time to cover the basics. This includes vacuuming, sweeping and mopping the floors, wiping down kitchen benches and tackling the bathroom. Keeping a scheduled clean while you’re away lets you stay on top of all the extra tasks that seem to creep up on us all.

Remain Flexible

Maintaining some flexibility with your cleaner can help you keep a good cleaner, and it can pay off in the future if you want to change schedules. If you like your cleaner, and they come to you requesting a schedule change, try to accommodate them so you can hang onto them. If you need to stick to the schedule you’ve set, you can always get a fill in cleaner when your cleaner is unavailable or switch cleaners easily through the agency.

Customise Your Clean

The great thing about having an Absolute Domestics cleaner is you can fully customise your cleaning service and change your cleaning task list anytime. If you’ve had your cleaner doing the floors, kitchen and bathrooms and now you’d like them to do the washing, just adjust your cleaning priority list and let them know the new order. You also have the option to occasionally add an extra hour to your cleaning service if there are other tasks you need done that week, perhaps you want the oven cleaned or the ironing pile tackled, it’s an easy and efficient way to power through your to do list.

Our Cleaners

We get cleaners who have all sorts of backgrounds and levels of experience. Domestic cleaning often appeals to mums working around school hours, retirees looking to earn some extra income, students and new Australians keen to gain experience in the housekeeping industry. We have part-time cleaners working 2 or 3 hours a day, up to individuals and teams cleaning around 30 homes a week on a full-time basis.

Regardless of who you have cleaning your home, the aim is always the same… to leave your home clean, neat and tidy!

Our Role

We are a recruitment and referral agency, which means we find, vet and train cleaning contractors for our clients. At Absolute Domestics we’ve been matching cleaners with busy households all over Australia and New Zealand for over 30 years, we are the largest domestic cleaning agency in Australia. We are here to find you the right cleaner for you, someone who can meet all the requirements you have for your cleaning service. Whether that be washing and ironing or cleaning your marble bathrooms, we’re committed to pairing you with the perfect cleaner. As an agency we can offer you a fill-in cleaner when your cleaner goes on holiday or is sick and we can replace your cleaner if you want to try someone new.
